It brings me so much joy to announce the launch of House of Elon. House of Elon is a veteran owned and operated business started by Essence Wheeler, who has a passion for fashion and wanted to make it a major part of her life. Her goal was to create a boutique website that caters to women of all different shapes, ethnicities, and personalities and allow women to express themselves to fashion. I’m a big fan of fashion as well so was incredibly excited to work on this project.
Project Details
During the website kick-off call, Essence expressed that she was looking to create a website that matched the logo she recently invested in. She was looking for a brand that website that was elegant, glam, and chic. Essence provided the following visual to provide inspiration for her website.

Brand Mood Board
An important part of the website design process is the client questionnaire. The client questionnaire is where you can include any design inspiration for your project. Essence provided the following visual to provide inspiration for her website.
As a next step, I created a brand mood board in order to develop a color palatte for House of Elon. The Brand Mood Board is an important step because it serves as a roadmap for the web design project.
My initial brand mood board, included a more minimal and monotone color palatte. While Essence loved the overall design, she ultimately decided that she wanted a brand that had more color infused in it so we scrapped it and went with a more playful design.
Brand Style Guide
Once we had the brand mood board finalized, we were ready to move on to the next step of the process which includes creating a brand style guide. The brand style guide goes beyond the brand mood board and includes a full color palatte, complimeentary fonts, and imagery. The brand style guide is important because it serves as a style guide for upcoming design projects which allows all your branding to stay cohesive.
Home Page Design
When developing a website it’s critical to create a site that converts site visitors into customers. One aspect of this is to create a website that is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing however it’s also extremely important to create a website that is well highly functional and well organized.
We were able to achieve this by creating a header image that stood out and would immediately entice visitors to shop. Additionally, the home page was broken into sections to highlight specific actions. We used personalized call to actions like “shop new arrivals”, “shop bestsellers”, and “get on the list” to excite website visitors into taking action. Additonally, the minimal design and white space allows these call to actions to stand out even if visitors are just doing a quick scroll.
Additional Pages
It’s important to make sure that the rest of your website is cohesive and matched your home page design.
Client Testimonial
“You nailed it! I was struggling to find the right words to describe my vision for my website, however our conversations and the questionnaires you provided gave me the clarity I needed to get my point of view across. I’m loving my new website.”
