I’m so excited to reveal my latest brand and website design project for Divine Naturalz. I had so much fun coming up with the tropical and playful color scheme for this line of luxurious homemade body butters and scrubs available in exotic fragrances like mango, brown sugar, green tea, and pina colada.
Project Details
During the website kick-off call, Debbie expressed that she was looking to create a website for her homemade line of body butters and scrubs. Debbie previously sold many of her items at in-person events like craft fairs and conventions however given COVID-19 was looking to take her business to the next level and develop an online presence.
Logo
Our first step was tackling the logo. For the logo design, Debbie expressed that the name Divine Naturalz was inspired by her faith and wanted a logo that included a dove but also wanted a design that would pop on her product labels. We ended up creating two variations of the logo. One that would be used on the products labels and a more minimal design for the website.
Brand Mood Board
An important part of the website design process is the client questionnaire. The client questionnaire is where you can include any design inspiration for your project. While Debbie chose no to provide any specific visual for inspiration, she stressed that she wanted the website to use bright vibrant colors.
The fragrances and ingredients of the Divine Naturalz products also served as great inspirtion. With rich ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil and fragrances like mango, pina colada, and brown sugar I saw an opportunity to create a tropical vibe that would allow customers to be transported to a sunny destination with beautiful beaches and palm trees.
Label Design
Once we had the brand mood board finalized, we were ready to move on to the next step of the process which includes creating the labels for the Divine Naturalz product line. The goal was to create a label that could be used across Divine Naturalz full product line of body butter, sugar scrubs, salt scrubs, and yoni steams. We landed on the concept design below:
Product Photography
Once the product labels were back from the printer it was time for the fun part – product photography! When doing a product photo session it’s important to have clean product photos on a white background as well as some lifestlye photos. Lifestyle photos are shots that include props and backgrounds to make the products appear more editorial. These are great photos that can be used on the home page of your website as well as on social media channelse like Instagram and Pinterest. To keep with the tropical aesthetic of the brand, I went shopping for some key pieces to include in the lifestlye photos. Items like monstera leaves, corkboards, wooden bowls, and a turquoise shell were all used during the shoot.
Home Page Design
When developing a website it’s critical to create a site that converts site visitors into customers. One aspect of this is to create a website that is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing however it’s also extremely important to create a website that is well highly functional and well organized.
We were able to achieve this by creating a header image that stood out and would immediately entice visitors to shop. Additionally, the home page was broken into sections to highlight specific actions. We used personalized call to actions like “shop new arrivals”, “shop bestsellers”, and “get on the list” to excite website visitors into taking action. Additonally, the minimal design and white space allows these call to actions to stand out even if visitors are just doing a quick scroll.
Additional Pages
It’s important to make sure that the rest of your website is cohesive and matched your home page design.
